Collar Blue was formed by Rainwater and Luke in 1996 in Pacific Beach CA as a message based blues rock and country band.  All of the songs have some sort of redemptive message whether it be social, political or moral ... and even the sultry stuff glorifies monogamy.   While it is true that  Luke wrote all the songs, and played guitar,harmonica, flute and sang, this project would have never made it from the solo acoustic level to the full electric level if it was not for Rainwater.  Rainwater didn't just play the drums. He recorded it , produced it, and found the  bass player Larry.  Luke had struggled for seven years to get a band together, but to no avail. Rainwater  made the whole thing happen by himself with his 1/2 inch 8-track at his home studio off of the alley  West  of Cass St. up by the 7-eleven on the corner of  Loring St. in Northern Pacific Beach.
